Even I screw up? Another Plugin to help fix stuff..

Even WordPress can hurt your brain!

Missing Data All In One SEO Pack Plugin (add On)

You have a WordPress blog, but you think, Google Webmaster Tools or some other SEO servicce tells you that you are missing all sorts of helpful META tags. The Missing Data All in One SEO Pack Plugin add on is a great tool to install in addition to  All in One SEO. It does not work with FV All In One SEO plug in which is too bad. I like the lighter, client interface of the “FV” version, but that simpleness comes at a cost. I like my META info displayed on the “Post” and “Page” admin pages. Otherwise “Missing Data”  will find all pages and post missing title, description and keyword  META information. You really can’t count on  much SEO success if you don’t have the first two tags, title and description. Furthermore all your pages and posts must have unique title tags if you are serious about maximizing your search engine optimization.
“Missing Data” is a great tool even if you think you have taken cared of your SEO like an $800 a month pro SEO service but bad stuff happens, so it is nice to have this handy little WordPress plugin installed in your blog or website. In my case when I shifted from one theme to another, all my META tag, in particular titles and descriptions got “lost”. Since I was using a different SEO plugin, I didn’t  notice the lack of title and description tags. When I re-installed the “All In One SEO”, which I had previously been using, my “Page” and “Post” admin screen showed a lack of SEO META tags. Three full pages of blogs had no tags. Talk about a search engine killing moment. W0rse, going through the blog posts one at time was a pain in the butt. Again, “All In One SEO” does list all your SEO data on the PAGE and POST admin page, but the lighter, “FV” version does not.

All in One SEO versus FV All in One SEO
I guess I should clear up some confusion right now. I use BOTH of these related WordPress plugins depending on certain conditions and if it is a client or my personal WordPress site.. For any new Blog for a client, the “FV” version presents a lighter, friendlier interface. Backing it up with the “Missing Data” add on allows a client (and myself) to check for missing META tags. If I see a pattern of incomplete META tags, I may switch to “All in One SEO so that I can see the data on all the pages. “Missing Data” only shows what META data is missing. “FV AINSEO” shows  no META tags in the “Page” and “Post” area whereas”AINSEO” shows a complete listing of SEO META tags. The downside of the latter is that if you have lots of posts and pages in your WordPress website or blog, AND you have opted to use keywords, those pages can get long because the keyword column is narrow.  The cure is to just not use keywords at all.

About Keywords
Just about every search engine has stated publicly that META keywords are absolutely worthless. Now that doesn’t mean the keywords that represent your content in  your actual blog. I am talking about META keywords. Keyword density in your blog and pages are still quite important. So you can just drop using them. Save the time, no more META keywords. There are far more important things to consider with the time you focus on SEO. That  means you can use the full version of “All in One SEO” on your mature blog especially if you go forward ignoring keywords in META.

SUPER CLUE – Back up Often!
Always back up or know you have a current back up of your site before you make any updates to WordPress, theme or plugins. In the last few months WordPress has updated from 3.01 to 3.02 to just recently 3.02. Also, not all plugins work with all themes and many of the plugins out there have known issues getting along. Do your research! Although I have done mine and the ones listed here work well for me, that is no guarantee they won’t blow the hell out of your site. I don’t know what version of WordPress, what other plugins or themes you are using so proceed carefully and understand this blog is for informational purposes only. I cannot and will not be responsible for whatever happens to your blog after you read this. All I can tell you is that I share information here for anyone to use as they sit fit at their own risk. The plugins posted here are in use in all of my sites as well as those clients who accept my advice.
